Andrew undertook his first music directing role in May 2025 as a senior in high school, conducting, performing with, and directing an 8 piece band for Hadestown: Teen Edition (see Hadestown Highlights for more). He attended many vocal rehearsals for the show and sight read open and choral score. Before Hadestown, he often assisted the vocal director in warming up the choir/ensemble, leading sectionals, and playing orchestral reductions. He is self-taught in piano and baton conducting in musical theatre and choir genres, with assistance (and inspiration) from Dr. John Boonenberg and Dr. Veena Kulkarni-Rankin. He has performed and worked with music directors Jason Smith, Lindsay CieChanski, John Boonenberg, Brian Rose, Vanessa El-Zein, Elizabeth Mitchell, William Griffel, and Abbie-Jo Wilcox. He has worked with theatre directors Brodie Brockie, Anne-Marie Roberts, and Tricia Wise. Andrew is currently a member of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and helps play piano during baritone sectionals every so often. He has also recorded choral part tapes for Charlotte Middle School in Michigan.
